Stress Management
We are all navigating a predictably unpredictable life, searching for more and better. There is no rule book on how to live the unique life we’ve each been given. We do the best we can with what we have and hope for the best. We strive to be our best selves, each thriving towards a goal. But everyone can attest that life gets tricky sometimes. It just does. Life is all encompassing; it comes with the good and the bad and this is true for everyone. There is no escaping disappointments, stress, grief, and loss; but ultimately the good will outweigh the bad and all our efforts would have been worth it. It is important to maintain a positive outlook on life no matter what life is throwing at you. It is also important to know that you’re not alone, there is hope and you are loved.
Eradicate Stinking Thinking
The term “Stinking Thinking” refers to a cognitive distortion where a person falsely thinks negative about themselves and falsely thinks negative things will happen to them. These thoughts are repetitive, and the person accepts them as truths.
We all suffer from stinking thinking to varying degrees. It is not uncommon to feel this way while experiencing stress, grief, or loss. However it is important to examine our thoughts objectively and tame them rather then subscribing to the distortion.
Self Care
Self-care, the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
Self-care is a critical component to one’s own well being and happiness. The things we do to reinvigorate ourselves are necessary and important. We can only reach our fullest potential when we take care of our well-being.
Attitude of Gratitude: When I am feeling low, I call into account every battle won and every good thing I have going on in my life. I focus my mind on only these things and it encourages me to keep pushing and to keep fighting.
Look Good Feel Great: Who doesn’t love to look good? Keep yourself looking good and it will help you feeling good. Confidence has an effect on productivity, self-efficacy, and happiness.
Eat Healthy: You know that heavy, sleepy feeling you get after eating a large meal? In case anyone was wondering, this is not a good thing. Eating a balanced diet that avoids inflammatory-producing foods can help improve your emotional and physical health.
Get Enough Sleep: How much sleep are you getting? Adults need a minimum of 7 hours of sleep. According to the Sleep Foundation, “Sleep powers the mind, restores the body, and fortifies virtually every system in the body.”
Hobbies: find a joyful interest or activity to do at your leisure. This is a great way to destress from a long day and unwind.
Thrive!
Rather than dwell on what cannot be changed, let us focus our attention and efforts on the things we can control. Let us apply all that we know and all the resources we have to our advantage. Let us make ourselves a priority and by taking better care of ourselves, we can better withstand what lies ahead. Better yet, overcome! Commit daily to caring for and loving yourself, no matter what. We here at The Let’s Talk Tribe are rooting for your continued success.
