Unlike overthinking, caution is grounded in reality and is motivated by a desire to make informed choices, whereas overthinking is grounded in hypotheticals and motivated by fear. Overthinking can lead to indecision, inaction, or poor choices, whereas caution empowers us to act prudently while still moving forward. The key difference lies in the degree of consideration and the impact your thinking process has on your decision-making.
Tips for Combating Overthinking
Mindfulness - One of the most powerful tools for combating overthinking is mindfulness. By bringing your awareness to the present moment, you can quiet the chatter of your mind and find a sense of calm.
