Live a Happier Life

We all experience moments of happiness in our lives but for never long enough. We are always in pursuit of happiness, but what is happiness? Happiness is an emotional state of being characterized by feelings of euphoria, joy, satisfaction, and contentment.

My younger self once believed that life should be lived happy all the time. My naivete had me chase happiness to the point of recklessness at times. As I matured, I learned that this was not true, life could not be lived happy all the time. I learned that happiness had a spectrum, and some days I were happier than others. Most importantly I learned that not everything or everyone that makes you happy in the life, will keep you happy. In fact, some things or people that might make you happy today, can kill you tomorrow. Ultimately, there is a difference between being happy and feeling happy? So how do we bridge the gap between the two? Let’s talk about it!

Check out this interesting video of a group of professors, psychologists, and journalists who were asked how they would define happiness.

Takeaways

Happiness is both a state of being and a feeling. Happiness is self-defined and self-proclaimed and therefore you own the rights to your own happiness. Other people can make you happy, but only if You let them. You are the holder of your happiness and not anyone else. You own the responsibility of achieving the happy life you desire.
